This campsite was really lovely, it just would have been good to know the latest check in time. When we arrived quite late in the evening there was a padlock on the gate. We didn't have phone reception so we had to ask another customer in the campsite for the code. Perhaps it would be good to send the code out in the confirmation of booking email? Otherwise we had a lovely quiet stay - thank you.

Magical campsite with an intimate vibe
A huge thanks for a wonderful ten days r&r after an incredibly stressful 2020 (as so many of us have had!). Incredibly keeps loos, spacious outdoor shower (what a treat to shower under the blackberries!), extremely welcoming and interested owner, other wonderful women solo campers, near to so many beautiful spots and places to explore and just the little bit of magic this awesome campsite has. I loved it so much I felt compelled to write about it TIDE - a post about Five Wyches
. Thanks Sarah and daughter - my stay will remain etched in my memories!

Great location, great place.
I extended my stay by 2 days as there is so much to see and do locally if you like the outdoor life. During the week the site was very peaceful and the atmosphere relaxed. I'm sure my dog and I will be back.

A rustic gem of the south west, great proximity to Dartmoor neolithic and mining sites. Clean, tidy and low key. A good place to be.

Lovely eco friendly camp site
Really enjoyed our 4 night stay. The camp site is small and friendly with just the right amount of security, eco friendly facilities and space for family fun.
We have enjoyed our own space as well as making some lovely friends and sharing marshmallows around the fire pits (whilst adhering to social distancing of course)
The facilities are basic and eco friendly but clean and well maintained. And the shower, well on the first day the gas had gone and we had a very cold shower (which I must admit I thought it was part of the experience so braced myself for the days ahead 😂) but once informed the owner sorted it out straight away and we had lovely hot open air showers from then on, and I didn’t want to get out it was so nice!
We will definitely be coming back next year.

Back again for more of the best
This was our second year at 5 Wyches and after 20+ years of towing our van around a variety of sites, I can honestly say that for me, this is one of the best.
Yes, it's basic, but to be fair it is what it is, a "freedom" style campsite. We love the simplicity, the peace and quiet and the stars at night (WOW).
Campsites like this are getting harder to find and I personally think this one is a gem.
If you want all mod cons, hardstandings, golf course quality lawns etc than this isn't for you.
If you want simple, basic and all of the essentials (see the previous review) of camping then this place is for you.
We will be back.

Amazing - sad to leave
Had the most wonderful 3 nights at your lovely site. Spent the evenings sitting round firepit stargazing - only complaint there was no lightning ha ha. Daughter - who does not do 'roughing it' loved the outdoor shower. Visited beautiful beaches - easy walk to catch bus/train - treated ourselves to taxi last night. Will be back again for longer - thankyou.

Simply the best
Literally - the most simple, down to earth, peaceful, relaxed and lovely place to stay. Walking distance to river walks and 5 mins drive to Hay Tor on Dartmoor. Fab co-op only 5 mins drive. Warm open air showers and the best fire pit with lots of logs. The bed in the caravan is perfect - not to hard and not too soft and there are beautiful cushions and throw and rug with lace curtains - just so homely and snug. And...because it’s dog friendly, all the other campers were lovely too ☺️ Sarah, the host, is kind and helpful and I don’t think I’ve stayed at a nicer place. Will be coming back for sure.
